Magewar Online Game

Star Wars Online Rpg Knowledge Base

Where can I play the Star Wars RPG online for free? I really love this game, but I don't know anyone around here who plays it, so i'm looking for something like a forum where I can play the game with other people online.
Does anyone know of any Star Wars online RPG games? I mean ones where you actually control your movement like Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It would help if they were free but I don't mind if you have to download it. Any help would be great! I do actually have Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and as far as I am aware Star Wars Combine is not very good because you don't actually control your player physically as you do in Star Wars Jedi Knight.

Hey, I am looking for a good online star wars TEXT based role playing game (Like in a chat room or a message board or something) set in the GALACTIC CIVIL WAR era, (Sick of all the clone wars and pre-clone wars crap. What online rpg mmorgp game would you recommend for me to get on my laptop? getting my laptop soon hopefully and wondering which online game everyone thought was the best eg world of warcraft, star wars galaxies... Just wanting people's opinions from their experience. Thanks.
can i play star wars galaxies if i don't have internet access? i just bought a new pc and i want to get star wars galaxies to play on it. but i don't have internet access. the only thing i know about galaxies is that you can create a character and love a whole new life in the star wars world. but i'm not sure if it's just and online game, like world of warcraft, etc. so basically what i'm asking is, if i have a computer with no internet access can i still play star wars galaxies, or is just online rpg? any info you have on this would be great.
Is there any good starwars Online RPG? I just watched all six movies of star wars and I want to find some online rpg game with starwars,,, Anyone knows anything? title? link? membership if any? is it free? thank u
Star Wars game help please? I was wondering if Empire at war was strictly online or if it had an offline plot. Also, after you beat Kreia in KOTOR 2, is there more game after the credits? And, anyone of some good star wars computer games (rpg) other than KOTOR 1 and 2?
I Need a New Online RPG Game, PLEASE HELP!!!? I am looking for a Multiplayer RPG game like Neverwinter Nights but with better graphics. I tried NWN2 but my computer dies trying to play it. I have and like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, but theres no Roleplay. Not really anyway. I have tried lots of others, Dungeon Runners, Scions of Fate, 9 Dragons, Project Entropia, Anarchy Online, A tale in the Desert, City of Heros, Star Wars Galaxies, Face of Mankind (beta), Fiesta Online, Last Chaos, Pirate King Online, Regnum Online (which was kinda fun), Rubies of Eventide, Shadowbane and maybe others. What I want is a place with that great community of Roleplayers I found in NWN 1, I had some great servers like Layonara, and Myth Dranner and it was fun. These other games can be fun, but I want to really roleplay and immerse myself in the game and stay in character while killing things. I want a friendly community where my character can grow. So anyway IF you have any suggestions or know of an MMORPG that has RPG, please help.

Cost per month for online RPG's? My husband and I are trying to decide who to give our money to. We play Ultima Online, yes we play I love it :). We have played Guild Wars (it was OK) and are trying out WoW for a few days (I like it). How much is WoW per month? What about D&D online. I've read mixed reviews and want to try it. There is a free trial but can anyone tell me how much it is per month? How about Star Wars Galaxies or Everquest? Same questions? Thanks everyone for the info!!!!!
Best RPG (not online) with hot female characters? I am looking for a new RPG (PC) with these qualifications: 1. Contains hot female characters. 2. Does not require an online subscription to play the game. 3 You can create your own character or choose to play as a male or female character. 4. You can create a party or team of characters to travel and battle with. For background information, I am new to RPGs. I have played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II (PC) and Gladuis (PS2). I enjoyed those games and am looking for a new RPG that is similar in game playing format to those but has the above requirements. Please reply with your suggestions.
What online game is best for a player like me? ? There's tons of MMORPG's out there and I can't decide which game I should get into. So I turn to the loyal gamers out there who are hopefully willing to lend me their expertise in helping me find the game that fits my style of gaming. Here's what I like : 1. Linear, emotional (character) driven story lines. FF8, Xenogears, Lunar Silver Star Story Complete, etc. 2. Games that let you play at your own pace without the world either too slow or rushing ahead. One example of too slow is like the Star Wars online game where people had to set macros for DAYS in order to level up from one peon gun skill to another peon gun skill---effectively making it impossible for casual gamers to enjoy the game. 3. I like playing alone. So soloing needs to be available. 4. I'd like a game that can show some progress for somebody who goes to school full time, works full time, and volunteers on the side --one hour to three hours of game play a day. maybe. 5. Above all..not like Morrowind--my god that game bored the crap out of me. So those are my requirements. If you think there aren't any good online games for me would you be willing to suggest a good rpg pc game (I left my consoles when I moved. Just PC here.) Thanks so much!
which of these RPG games do you play most often ? Archlord,City of Villains ,Dofus ,EVE ,Final fantasy XI ,Gaia Online,KAL Online ,Lineage 2,Lord of the Rings Online,Maple Story,Mu Online ,RF Online, Rappelz Online ,Rune Scape II,Scions of Fate, dark age of camelot ,ever quest 2,guild wars, home page, matrix online, star war galaxies, world of warcraft And what site do you play them at?
Spore, Pure, or Star Wars Force unleashed? which should i get? Spore looks revolutionary and awesome. Force unleashed is awesome but no online play. And pure just looks sick! Also what about infinite undiscovery? IM not really an rpg guy though. Just please help i cant make up my mind?
Which is better, XBOX 360 or Playstation 3? They have both been out for over a year and a half. I am a longtime gamer, and I am still playing my XBOX and PS2. It is only because I am cheap as to why I haven't entered the next gen yet. I play sports games on the PS2 (Madden, MLB, College Hoops). I play action/adventure/RPG on the XBOX (Halo series and online, Star Wars KOTOR series, GTA series). I also understand that you must buy several peripherals for the XBOX 360 to get the capabilities equal with a PS3. There also seems to be more games out for the XBOX 360 than PS3, which tells me PS3 is going to have a lot of games coming out soon. A 360 is cheaper, but the PS3 is a Blu-Ray player. As you can see, I am torn. I want to buy one, play it, and then buy the other in about a year. These are my intentions. Any help or insight from other gamers out there would be appreciated.
Lord of the rings Conquest game questions? When did the game come out? Is the game JUST online or is it online enabled? if so just enabled what is the fee for online play? Is it like an RPG Quest game or like Star wars battle front/ Battle field kind of game? Is there PVP?
pc rpg games? what are some good rpg to play..i have wow and guild wars, but looking for another good 1.doesnt have to be online..i like games like fable and star wars knight of the old republic, any1 know games like that for pc?
What is another good game? Ok; I need a new game. I have almost beaten Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic II. I need more suggestions for games. I have 766mb of ram; and about 30gb of space to download. Tell me the game, good things about, possibly bad things and how much space it takes. I'd prefer it be an RPG (Star wars if possible) but, if isn't and it is a good game it'll be ok. Please no Online only games either. Whoever lists the best games that are relevant to my interests gets best answer. Thanks!

Rate my video game collection? I would love to see what some of you think about my video game collection. I know its not perfect, but I have to make sacrifices somewhere. For instance, I know I don't have a PS3. This does not mean that I hate PS3s and I think 360's are better, I simply got a 360 when they first came out and haven't wanted to dish out that much money for the PS3. So please don't unnecessarily flame me. Anyways, heres my collection. I have played these so don't bother: Final Fantasy 1-8, 10 Chrono Cross/Trigger Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 Grandia 2 Suikoden 3 Jade Empire Star Wars KOTOR 1 and 2 Fable Shenmue 1 and 2 I haven't really payed all that much attention to games as of late, I don't buy too many but I'm looking for a fix until Final Fantasy 12.
Which online role playing idea should I go with? Chose from this list of the one you would most likely play if you saw it on a role playing forum. If you see one that you think won't work at all then you can tell me. I won't feel bad because I just tossed some of these random ideas here that took 5 seconds to come up with(Mainly the first and second ones). The one that gets the most votes I will use and improve on the idea. All these stories will be futuristic. I may post a round 2 of new RPG ideas once I finish with one of these RPG's. 1. This is one of those stories when aliens attack the world. Normally when this happens people make the aliens almost invincible to our technology but it's a pretty fair fight in this story. It's sort of like Halo and Star Wars mixed together (Don't worry. A better plot will come out if you pick this). 2.This idea has the least chance of success but just throwing the idea out there just in case. Normally the enemy is a bunch of men, so this time the main enemies are women. They are in 5 groups (of about 10,000 people in each), and each one named after a different flower. In this story girls are born with a special type of magic material inside of them that men don't have and is vital to the plot somehow (this also helps against the arguement if you say women are too weak or something because they aren't, at least not in this story because of this magic material). 3.(This one seems like a Final Fantasy 7 rip-off, but I didn't realize it untill after I came up with this idea) An entire continent has been recently unified into one large country. They are using a mysterious energy source found inside some special crystals to power their advanced technology. They are currently at war with another equally powerful country to the south. There is an organization inside the nothern country that is actually calling the shots and are in charge of most of the technology and are the main bad guys. 4.Not as much an action story as a suspense. Normal civilians are given a special necklace thing that has a curse and people who get it are in some "game" where they have to be the last one alive with it but cannot physically attack other people with the necklace. They have to outsmart everyone else.

Good games for oldish computer? I have a 1.6ghz dual-core 1 gig ram laptop (shared vid ram @ 256) It can play oblivion just fine with the settings tweaked. Im looking for some great games that will run well on this computer. Recently, I have played the following types of games: GTA III - San Andreas Prince of Persia SoT - Two Thrones Rise of Nations Oblivion Star Wars: KOTOR Im looking for more games that are 2-5 years old that fit into the adventure/RPG genre. Something with a popular online multiplayer fanbase would be great. I've got some time to waste until I start my new job so I'll be wasting some time for a few weeks.

Xbox 360 or PS3? Don't bother with Wii or system specs...? I know this question has been asked to death but here goes one more. I want to know which is more user friendly (comfy controller for those all night sessions etc.) also has anyone played the same game on both? Which looks better? I like RPG games mostly (I know 360 has Elder scrolls) but the reason I ask is the new Star Wars game. It is coming out on both so I'd love an opinion about comparing the same game on each console. And I have a PS2 and an Xbox so I am not worried about backwards compatibility. And I have a pc so I may or may not (prob not) use the console for online play. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!
What is the best MMO (outside of WoW and GW)? (Plz click to find out what I'm looking for)? Hi! I'm looking for another MMO to play. I've played WoW but it costs too much to maintain every month for my currently limited budget. So I've resorted to playing Guild Wars for the past year, but I think I need a break from it. Plus, it's frustrating waiting for Guild Wars 2. I've had some really bad experiences with other games, so I'm skeptical about trying other advertised games UNLESS I get a good review of them. The potential MMO must have the following: -- Missions and Quests (primary reason I play any RPG-- video or table top-- is for the quests) -- Campaign storyline (preferred -- I'm aware this is rare in MMOs) -- Henchmen! (Not required, but this would be a VERY BIG PLUS. I'm aware that this may not exist in other MMOs. But henchies in any RPG are good for cannon fodder esp. when you need to save yourself and other players. I tend to command my henchies to run into monsters and distract them while myself and the other players sneak by). -- Awesome special effects (esp. during battle) -- Decent graphics (Anime graphics perferred... for a change) -- Must have an incentive for monster grinding (REQUIRED -- going up levels and getting cool items isn't enough for me). In GW, my character gets reputation points, which leads to titles and special abilities that come in handy for my elementalist character. In WoW, I tended to go on dungeon crawls with online friends and the socializing kept me from getting bored with killing monsters. Plus, it was very easy for me to find friendly people while on the WoW trial. Games I've played so far: --Ragnarok Online: This game is nothing more than a glorified chat line. It also had too many botters and people who would use special bombs to clear out dungeons WHILE OTHER PLAYERS WERE DUNGEON CRAWLING. When I complained to the GMs, they did nothing about the problem. Plus, there were only quests to gets special hats for your character to wear. -- Maple Story: Cute game, but too many tweens who call other gamers N00B for no reason. Where I come from N00B is slang for baka, stupid, and idiot. Plus I've been booted from guilds for no reason and no explanation (even though I logged on once a day). Plus, there are only collection quests (like Ragnarok) and killing monsters without any incentive got really boring. -- Runescape: This is a poor man's Guild Wars POSER. Just pay the one time fee of $30 for GW Prophecies and get the real thing! Plus alot of Maplestory people often play this game. -- Dungeons and Dragons Online: Anything created by the Turbine company means you have to be a rich gamer and maintain a $3000 gaming comp with a gigantic hard drive space to play without tech problems. I know. I've played this. Plus, somebody please kill that stupid narrator! And the players are rude too! I need to point out that neither WoW nor GW has such crazy computer requirements and those 2 are standard in the MMO world! -- Lord of the Rings Online: Another game from Turbine. Requires expensive gaming comp to play. -- Silkroad Online: Great game with awesome graphics EXCEPT that the servers are constantly full so I can't log on. Plus, the quests are too bland and uninteresting. IMO, I think the programmers need to learn how to write more engaging fantasy stories. They really need to study the Star Wars Ep. 4's script to learn how to write a basic hero story structure. Once you learn the basics, then you can do your own variations. So that's about it. In your opinion, what MMO should I check out? If you need to know my computer specs please check out http://www.xfire.com/profile/sliderkta/

Know any good RPGs? I'm in the need of a new RPG. I have a Wii, Gamecube, and PS2, which I want good RPGs for. I've already played (and loved) Paper Mario 1 & 2, Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XII (I don't want any more of those), and Pokemon stuff, heh heh. I would like games like those. Some RPG games that I didn't really like are Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne (not finished -- does is get better? Are the sequels better?), Phantasy Star Universe, Legend of Zelda stuff, FFVII, Guild Wars, FF:CC, and Rogue Galaxy. So yeah, none like those. I would really like to play a game with a Job System (like FFX-2, but not limited to), and a turn-based battle system. I really don't like MMORPGs, online games, or games like FF Tactics. I don't have a PS3, PSP, or Xbox 360(or just an Xbox) and can't get any right now (no money...). So, if you have any ideas please speak up! Thanks!!
star wars online rpg? i like star wars alot and i want to know if there is any ro playin online star wars.

So you'd like to... know why the xbox 360 rules all consoles? Come on, Sony fanboys, lighten up and hear me out before you fumble for that "NO" button. I'm sorry that you spent $600+ to play the most powerful gaming system known to man only to find out that there were almost no games worth playing and the ones they do have are as good on the 360. PS3 is still a sweet Blu-ray player, no? So here's the guide: The current gen console wars are history and the next-gen craze is front and center with sky-rocketing prices and awesome new games and features coming out of the woodwork. Sadly, if you're anything like me, you have but a modest budget and tight time constraints on your free time and only have the time and money for one next-gen console. The choices are: 1) Microsoft's awesome Xbox 360 Console Includes 20GB Hard Drive with it's unbeatable live play, slough of incredible original games, and a proven dependable interface, 2) The superpowered, blu-ray technology sporting, hyper-expensive PlayStation 3 (60GB); the gaming juggernaut with an endless supply of Japanese 3rd party support and perfect backwards-compatibility, and 3) the moderately priced Wii which looks to change the way games are played with it's revolutionary motion-sensitive controller, allowing you control you onscreen action using the motions of your hands, and featuring downloadable games dating from the NES all the way to the N64 era. Nice. So which to get? If the title of this guide didn't tell you, I'll tell you straight-up that I'm down with Microsoft on this one. I'm not some fanboy; I've floated between all three of these gaming giants in my years since my mama bought me the Atari 2600 and I believe they all offer something fantastic. Nintendo has and always will excel at family-friendly gaming and simple, pick-up-and-play party games at a good price and is highly recommended as a console for children or nostalgia buffs. But I'm neither of those. The best Nintendo series, which have great games including Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl that are top-notch and fun for all. But they don't carry the whole system for me (though Red Steel also looks promising). Sony's Playstation systems have been the king of the hill as far as sales go, and continue to dominate Japan and America alike with their always impressive list of RPG's and other quirky Japanese funfests. A great choice if you have limitless time and money to buy and play the neverending catalogue of cookie-cutter games mixed in with the handful of premium PS2 franchises such as Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts II, and the fighting series, Tekken 5. The PS3 itself has stumbled out the gate, promising far more than it has delivered with middling titles like Resistance: Fall Of Man and games that are already available on the 360 and look and play no better. The interface is little more than a carbon copy of the Xbox's tried and true menu system with promises (always with the promises) of a "Second Life"-style friends' lounge coming up. Let's not mention the disgraceful behavior of Sony's supporters on launch day as customers physical fought each other for the few consoles that Sony had available to sell. Oops, I just mentioned it! I miss my Zelda and my Final Fantasy, but the Xbox Core Console USM simply rocked my world when it came out. Microsoft took the classic home console and changed it forever, essentially transforming it into a specialized PC designed just for gamers. Featuring original, groundbreaking franchises like Halo: Combat Evolved and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, while bringing in great PC ports like Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (Game of the Year) and allowing you to download music onto to your xbox and program it like a jukebox or ipod with independent playlists on your television (you could even put customized soundtracks into some games!), Microsoft pulled me away from Sony's RPG paradise. The Xbox Live service is a smashing success and was/is probably the single-biggest draw of the system. Finally, console gamers had a comprehensive, easy to use service that allowed them to crush strangers and friends alike in spirited multi-player battles and wars, meeting new people all along the way through live voice chatting. Last time around, Microsoft was the new kid on the block, coming late to the game with something to prove. This time, the xbox 360 was first out of the gate by a mile with a price tag that puts it right smack in the middle between the cheaper, kid-friendly Wii and the ridiculously pricey PS3. With great franchises new and old like Dead or Alive 4, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, the smash-hit Gears Of War, zombie horror-fest Dead Rising, and the promise of Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil on the horizon Sony is losing ground fast in the quality franchise department and has shown us very little in return so far, though they have maintained their "We're Sony, bee-yatches. We'll do what we want and you'll buy it!" attitude towards their fans even as they struggle to catch up to the Wii and 360 by attempting to copy them while dismissing them as "last-gen". And let us not forget Microsoft's unstoppable Halo 3; an ace in the hole if ever there was one. The 360 is constantly catering to the most loyal gamers, 20-somethings with some -but not limitless- disposable income and no time to waste on endless throw-away games or kids' stuff. Xbox live has only gotten better with downloadable arcade games (including Street Fighter 2),upcoming game and movie trailers, hi-definition online movie rentals, dozens of television shows available for purchase, free playable demos for current and upcoming games, and a fantastic online gamer community. Nintendo and Sony both have a lot to prove if they hope to ever even compete with Microsoft online. The xbox 360 now allows you to play every single game on the system with any custom soundtrack you can dream up. Good God, that is awesome. It will interface with everything from your ipod or PC, to a USB keyboard usable for future MMORPG's and the current PS2 port Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia, Rise Of The Zilart, Treasures of Aht Urhgan. To compete with the PS3's blu-ray compatibility, Microsoft gives us the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player which gives you the OPTION of upgrading to a new DVD format rather than Sony's built-in cost that you pay for whether you want blu-ray technology or not. After all, there is a format war going on and either HD-DVD or blu-ray (or even both) may become the next Betamax or minidisc in the future. All of this is just one gamer's opinion and I think I've made some good points without being too biased. After all, I'm an old-time Nintendo and Playstation fan myself. Nintendo has more than held it's own with it's mainstream innovations and stranglehold on the handheld market, but Sony hasn't fared so well and disgruntled fanboys must deal with the fact that the xbox 360 kicks major tail on all fronts. The 360 has almost all of the best games and console exclusives (though not as many recognizable characters as Nintendo), the coolest interface and features (though without the PS3's raw power) so far in a home system, and all at a medium price (cheaper than PS3, more expensive than the Wii). In other words, the perfect system right here, right now.
Will the liberal media report this success in Iraq? The struggle to form a unity government in Iraq continues, but signs of hope are emerging. One of the sticking points continues to be Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari, who has so far refused to resign; however, on Sunday the Iraqi Shia Alliance reported it was close to a deal to replace him. For a little perspective, travel back to the States, to the U.S. Senate and watch the immigration debate in the Senate. We've been doing democracy for several centuries now, and we can't get 100 politicians to agree on one issue. Considering we're the pros, we could cut the Iraqis a little slack as they continue to get the feel of this democracy-project thing. There continues to be plenty of good news to be found in Iraq. The Iraqi army continues to take over responsibility for more battle space, al Qaeda continues to take a beating, and rebuilding of the country is progressing. Moreover, the Iraqi economy is improving, and has doubled in the last three years. News for Pessimistic Generals The media has given an enormous amount of publicity to former generals who are calling for Rumsfeld to resign, and all but ignore those who remain optimistic about our efforts in Iraq. Colonel William Grimsley commanded the brigade that first took control of Baghdad Airport. Three years on he remains optimistic about the country's future: Grimsley, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division's 1st Combat Brigade Team during the opening days of Operation Iraqi Freedom, said history — not current events — will tell the true story of Iraq's metamorphosis. And that story will show how Iraq ultimately emerged from almost 40 years of a regime that ignored the people's needs and undermined its potential, Grimsley, now a military assistant to Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, said during an interview with American Forces Press Service and the Pentagon Channel. Major Kevin Carter just returned from Iraq, and shares this assessment: Charter believes not enough attention is being paid to the progress being made by Iraqis in taking control of their country. He said the people of Iraq are grateful Saddam Hussein has been overthrown. "I was told by an Iraqi that only two things could get rid of Saddam, the United States or Allah. I will never forget that," Charter said. "An Iraqi officer told me that if we just up and left the country would implode. They are so grateful for us being there and toppling Saddam. Even the Sunnis, who benefited under Saddam, thanked us." Before you think I'm just parroting the Pentagon line by quoting only officers, a Marine serving with an Iraqi unit had this to say: "Everybody hears about all the car bombs in Baghdad and how many people got shot. Those things are reality — I don't want to downplay them. But there's a lot of good things happening," he said. Despite being the main targets of terrorists and ex-Baathists, Iraqi soldiers remain well motivated: According to the commanding officer of the local Iraqi-army unit here, the soldiers' motivation to fight insurgents is steady despite the loss of two of their own comrades. During a memorial service for a fallen soldier, the Iraqi commander of 2nd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 7th Iraqi Army Division, assured his soldiers they were performing well and encouraged them to continue to listen and learn from the Marines. "I want the soldiers to continue to do the job they are doing," said the commanding officer, who wishes to remain anonymous. "We need the Marines' support and they are very professional when it comes to training my soldiers." A tip led U.S. troops to a house where forged documents were made: The two suspected forgers were found at a house where Soldiers seized $2,050 in U.S. currency, more than 500,000 Iraqi Dinars, 125 various forms of identification, fake stamps for the IDs and an AK-47. Another tip led U.S. troops to a weapons cache at a terrorist training facility: Found at the site were 19 155 mm artillery rounds and 21 mortar rounds of various calibers. The site may have been a training site of insurgents. The cache was transported to a secured location for controlled detonation. 320 Iraqis from Anbar Province arrived in Jordan to received training as police officers. The Iraqi army continues to take over more battle space: The 3rd Battalion, 1st Brigade, 4th Iraqi Army Division is assuming control of an area of responsibility that encompasses Balad, Al Duluyah and Yethrib, as well as the smaller villages surrounding these cities. In addition to taking over battle space, Iraqis continue to take the lead in more security operations. Operation Cobra Strike was lead by soldiers of the 8th Iraqi Army Division. The operation was planned, and conducted by Iraqis, with U.S. soldiers in support. Iraqi soldiers discovered four weapons caches during an operation in southern Baghdad: In total, the four weapons caches consisted of seven RPG rounds, three machine guns, 28 70 mm mortar rounds, 38 60mm mortar rounds, landmines, a large bag of homemade explosives, a sniper rifle, grenades, 13 pre-made roadside-bombs, ten rockets, 403 linked rounds of small arms ammunition, three bags of linked ammunition and 5,000 rounds of sniper-rifle rounds. 139 Iraqi soldiers recently graduated from commando school, and are ready to fight: "The Iraqi people are tired of the terrorists, extremists and instability and this unit fights that ... I am very proud that I am part of this special unit that will help stabilize this country," he said. "The terrorists have had their time. This is our time now." 39 of 45 planned border forts along the Iran-Iraq border are complete. The border posts are manned by Iraqis. U.S. troops discovered several significant weapons caches on an island in the Euphrates River: On April 5, Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, discovered 34 fused 82 mm rounds, five fused 120 mm rounds, 600 82 mm mortar rounds, 23 fused rocket-propelled grenades, five hand grenades, 28 55-gallon drums of TNT, nine 55-gallon sacks of nitrate, two bundles of detonation chord, a penetrator and 5,000 AK-47 rounds. The next day, Soldiers gathered 1,500 meters of command wire, a mortar sight, a receiver, 54 82mm rounds and a 107mm rocket. On April 7, MND-B Soldiers discovered the following items on the island: 1,450 18 mm anti-aircraft rounds, 27 125 mm aerial bombs, 30 anti-tank grenades, seven 60 mm mortars, five 82 mm mortars, 25 RPG rounds, 96 sticks of dynamite, 600 mortar primers, 156 hand grenades, three cylindrical containers, a RPG launcher, a rocket (caliber unknown), 37 boosters and a small mortar. In Mosul, U.S. soldiers discovered a significant amount of materials used to make IEDs. In Tikrit, a terrorist planting an IED was captured. In Yusifiyah, several terrorist were killed or captured after their safe house was attacked: During the assault, five terrorists, three of them wearing suicide vests, were killed; five others, one of whom was wounded, were detained. Two of the suicide bombers were killed before either could detonate his vest, and the third detonated his body bomb killing only himself and injuring no one else. I mentioned Operation Cowpens last week. The operation ended Friday, and the tally of captured munitions is impressive US forces killed five suspected insurgents and detained five others in a raid on a house southwest of Baghdad early Sunday in a hunt for an alleged Al Qaeda operative, the US military reported, according to AFP. In another raid, a senior al Qaeda operative was killed. Abu Umar was the terror groups "ambassador," and was charged with forming relationships with other groups in Iraq. Umar was an associate of Osama bin Laden. More than 115 top al Qaeda operatives have been killed or captured in Iraq over the last few months. Al Qaeda in Iraq continues to use unwilling people to carry out attacks. One attacker was identified by the fingerprints found on his hand, which was hand cuffed to the steering wheel of a car used as a bomb. It was the only part of him found. U.S. military vehicles in Iraq will be getting a new anti-RPG system called Trophy from the Israelis [This item has been corrected since posting. — Ed.]: The Trophy, unveiled by the IDF a year ago, combines two main systems: a radar built by Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd., detects threats; and a Rafael-designed system destroys incoming threats in flight. Rafael claims that the Trophy can protect armored fighting vehicles against all types of anti-tank rockets and missiles. The two conceptual innovations incorporated into the Trophy are 360-degree protection of the tank or APC, which eliminates the need for adding armor plating, which can double a tank’s weight, restricting its mobility and maneuverability; and to provide protection from new threats from the side and top in low-intensity combat, compared with frontal threats of the past. The State Department issued a report on Iraq's economy. Iraq's economy as nearly doubled in the last three years. GDP rose by 2.6% last year, and is expected to rise by more than ten percent in 2006. A carpentry workshop funded by USAID is helping Iraqis earn a living: The workshop focuses on fostering leadership, independence and financial stability among 18- to 24-year-olds. Profits from sale of furniture and doors made in the carpentry shop are reinvested in the youth center to purchase sports equipment, Internet access and secondary school supplies. Three new power substations are now online in Najaf. At a cost of $4.8 million per substation, each should provide 25,000 households with electricity. A ceremony in Baghdad marked the opening of a renovated youth center: The Youth Center offers programs and training in weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, judo and soccer. During the tour, the guests viewed young Iraqi boxers sparring; wrestlers practicing takedowns; soccer players kicking goals; and weightlifters pumping iron. The project was financed with funds from the 10th Mountain Division. Everyday Americans are also helping out in Iraq. Frank Casa of Fairport, New York raised $25,000 to send wheel chairs to disabled residents of Hilla: Casa has raised more than $25,000 to send desperately needed wheelchairs to Hilla, a city south of Baghdad, ravaged by the blasts of suicide attacks and car bombs. Later this year, he'll travel to Iraq to help distribute the wheelchairs. "There are many, many civilians that are caught in desperate straits, that were caught up in this war, and they're strictly victims," Casa said. "Not to have mobility is like throwing fuel on the fire." The latest weekly reconstruction update is available here. Highlights include: * A water system is under construction in Fallujah. When completed it will provide 200,000 residents with clean water. * A firing range is under construction at the police academy in Hillah. * Renovations are complete on the police station in Kadhimiya. * The rehabilitation of a sewer pump station is complete in Mansour. * In Baghdad, construction is complete on three solid waste transfer stations. * A project to provide 10,000 residents in Basrah is complete. * Construction of two power stations in Erbil Province is complete. * Reconstruction is complete on two fire stations in Karbala. * 13 of 15 school projects are complete in Karbala. * Construction of new classrooms is now complete in Mosul. U.S. and Iraqi troops conducted a dental clinic in Amu Shabi: A smile can light up one's face... and today, more than 200 Iraqis had a reason to smile. Iraqi-army troops, along with U.S. Special Forces medics, Civil Affairs and 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division Soldiers, traveled to a school in Amu Shabi, Iraq, to provide a Dental Assessment and Care Clinic for local citizens. A Scottish company has plans to build the first water park in Iraq. This story is pertinent because of the what the company's sales managers said: International sales manager Jim Stuart said yesterday: "I am delighted to be involved in this project and it shows that rebuilding in Iraq really is happening." Sadly, the newly elected Miss Iraq won't be attending the opening. Norway's DNO will become the first Western company since the invasion to produce oil in Iraq next year. The company has discovered five oil reservoirs in northern Iraq. Iraqi Air is purchasing two new planes from Airbus. Iraq is spending $25 million to purchase two new oil tankers. OUR HEROES Petty Officer 2nd Class Juan M. Rubio will be awarded the Silver Star later this month for actions in Iraq: On Jan. 1, 2005, Rubio's platoon was ambushed on the Euphrates River. The Marines left their boats and pursued the attackers, only to have an explosive set off nearby. Rubio and three Marines were wounded. Despite having shrapnel wounds in his legs and arms, Rubio belly-crawled to the injured Marines and treated their injuries. He then dragged each of them across open terrain, under fire, to safety behind a wall. He showed the uninjured Marines how to care for the wounded troops and then began directing covering fire while he helped take the wounded back to the boats. "Your actions saved lives and you have set an example for future corpsmen and Marines to emulate," wrote Maj. Gen. R.F. Natonski, who wrote a letter endorsing the medal. "Your service is coveted by each and every Marine in the 1st Marine Division." One Marine died that day, Lance Cpl. Brian Parrello. Rubio believes Parrello saved his life. "He took a big chunk of artillery," Rubio said. "He absorbed 90 percent of the explosion for me. I owe my life to him." Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin Jewett was awarded the Bronze Star for action in Iraq: Jewett ran through a hail of gunfire and dragged the injured teammate 20 feet to the protection of a large vehicle, the citation says. He then administered first aid. Under continuous attack, he supervised the evacuation of his wounded teammate. The Navy said Jewett's "courageous actions" saved his teammate's life. Lance Corporal Carlos Gomez-Perez was awarded the Silver Star this week for his actions in Fallujah: In the late morning, the platoon came under fire from machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades coming from three directions, according to a citation signed by Secretary of the Navy Donald Winter. Gomez-Perez first made sure that several injured comrades received medical attention, then moved another downed Marine out of the line of fire, suffering wounds to his shoulder and face in the process. "Despite his injuries, he again exposed himself to enemy fire and continued to attack the enemy with grenades and by firing his rifle with his uninjured arm," the citation states. "By his bold leadership, wise judgment and complete dedication to duty, Lance Corporal Gomez-Perez reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service."
