I am in need of an experienced coder.? A few years ago I started playing MUD(multi user dungeons) I enjoyed them but then after a while I got tired of them. The reason why I got tired was because most of them were the same stuff, so then I decided to look for expreinced coders to help me make a perfect MUD game. virtual machine xp and fedora? is there a way i can run fedora inside of windows (xp pro), eg the fedora 8 is installed on a different partition eg ext3 type of partition, also i run a mud (Multi user dungeon system) which people connect use a address this works ok if i boot into fedora directly from startup or rebooting of my laptop, so if i ran fedora inside a virtual machine would it still work the same, as if i was booting directly into fedora yeah i know tricky question... also no silly answer/insulting you'll get reported.
Free Online Roleplaying games? Anyone here like free online roleplaying games? Back in the day i got started on a MUD (multi-user dungeon) actually its the oldest school of games. Its completely text base - so no real fancy graphics. But its a great break from other types of games. The one i use to play is back. its called Ancient Empires and it takes place of course in Ancient Roman like history. You can join guilds like Vampires, Knights, Wyrd (magic), Elemental Mages, Dragons, Gladiators, Clerics. Its pretty decent. Sucky thing is not many people play, but its SUCH a great thing. The learning curve isnt all that bad. I was wondering if anyone else plays muds or is looking for a mud and will check it out. telnet://mud.ancientempires.net:5011 you can put that in your browser to use telnet to go create a character now. type 'message WHATEVERHERE' to chat on the line if you need help with anything. also they are giving a bonus of 10 mil quest experience to new people so thats rad. lemme know if u play! Link wont work on yahoo. but go to Start - Run - 'telnet' that will open the telnet application on your computer - or just do a google search for zmud/gmud those are mud applications that are just like telnet (but way better) and connect to mud(dot)ancientempires(dot)net the port is 5011
Creating a M.U.D. Game? I am interested in creating my own multi-user-dungeon game online just for fun that myself and friends can play. I have looked online, but everything is very vague on how I can start up a mud server. Can anyone explain to me in general how I can set up a mud server on a linux box, or point me to somewhere that explains the process? I have bare bones knowledge of coding and scripting, but I would be willing to learn in order to build a mud. From what I can gather, it seems like there are some very good script libraries avaialable for mud's, and I may not have to do much coding. I experimented with MudMaker online but I did not like it. If anyone could give me some info I'd much appreciate it.
