Is it possible to travel faster than light by reincarnation?
Say you die in 2020 and are reincarnated in 2021, but on a planet in a star system 100 light years away. Is it possible for your soul to travel 100 light years in one year?

- thinking about this has caused my brain to travel faster than the speed of light - or perhaps short-circuited. Kind of like thinking about praying. Do prayers travel at, or faster than, the speed of light to god? I assume he's a long long ways from here, so they must travel pretty fast...
- Science does not recognize faster than light travel, souls or reincarnation, so this question is highly speculative, to say the least. Souls are imaginary, so one can say whatever he likes about them.
- Matter is made of energy and is restricted to the laws of physics. What are souls made of? If energy then matter and your reincarnated soul theory would need to remain within the laws of physics. If the soul is made of different stuff, then let your imagination and your faith have what ever they like. No evidence will constrain you.
- Anything is possible? If you assume that your entire life is a computer game or a story book where past events can be made up to suit you current situation, it would be possible to do all sorts of strange things in the fictional time of the story but the page numbers or time of the story teller would still have to make sense. Look up quantum histories and the "many observers" or "many worlds" interpretations of quantum mechanics. At the "plank level" or "quantum vacuum" time ebbs and flows backwards and forwards. Quantum mechanics also suggests that no information is ever lost. This presumably also includes the memories or life of a person. So reincarnation might happen but if it did happen on a distant planet outside the space-time event horizon of when you were alive you would never bump into yourself to cause a paradox.
- Organic matter is neither created nor destroyed. Splitting the atom has challenged this theory, but the soul is part of an organic unit, so it is believed that the souls do not travel far, since organic material would burn up in the atmosphere due to friction. Reincarnation, therefore, acts on the physics that are available under the atmosphere. There have been experiments on human bodies which have weighed less after the person has expired; some people call this the soul. Basic science would keep the inhabitants of planet earth and its souls close to earth, where they live and thrive, not just cast them out into another place where it is possible they would die. It is possible that what you propose would be available in the future, but for now, science can't support it. Pretty much like when people thought man could not ever fly and that the world was flat. Thanks for a good question. I'll go have a nice chianti now. Ken
