I'm thinking of learning more about Buddhism. Has anyone seen proof of reincarnation?

I like the peaceful philosophy behind this religon. Please tell me anything you know about it.

  1. There is no proof of reincarnation.
  2. It's not really a religion. It's a way of life. No, I haven't heard of any proof of reincarnation.
  3. please don't, just because people say it's peaceful doesn't make it so, (it's a false religion, can I say that?)
  4. No proof, only faith. Some sects of Buddhism don't take reincarnation into consideration. I would suggest looking into Zen if you're looking for a system free from the supernatural.
  5. Jesus Christ is the only one I know of that came as the God that created heaven and earth. He is the only one that can convert one into a saint. He has the words of eternal life.
  6. I would tell you about the one that came to bring peace, restoration, love, mercy and grace but nobody wants to hear about it, but they can definately curse it and remain under a curse because of it.
  7. Irish and Sunset, stop trolling please; this is a thread about Buddhism, not Christianity. Take your preaching elsewhere. As for the asker, there is no concrete proof of reincarnation. A nice page for learning the basics of Buddhism can be found here: http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/5minbud.htm
  8. If you see a dead person's body morphing, that's just mutation and dead-coming-alive. hahaha. No you can't see proof of these things unless you have an awakened mind to see beyond your peripheral vision and be able to know the causes of a person's current conditions (knowing their past). That's how an enlightened one knows what a person used to be.
  9. I am a practising zen Buddhist ( Rinzai). We don't really believe in reincarnation. It's called rebirth, which is different. Remember that Buddhists believe in the oneness of all phenomena so there is no such thing really as an individual soul. We are all different and temporary expressions of this one, universal consciousness.
  10. You wish to learn more about Buddhism? The Website: What Buddha Taught, is a good place to begin to learn much about Buddhism. http://www.what-buddha-taught.net/ If you wish to learn about 'The Four Noble Truths/Eightfold Path which is the Core teachings of Buddhism. I like the way Ajahn Sumedho explains it: http://www.what-buddha-taught.net/Books3/Ajahn_Sumedho_The_Four_Noble_Truths.htm Hope this helps, and clears up any questions you have about 'rebirth'.
