2 Magic questions. help!!?

1. can i counter a planeswalkers ability?? ( like jace's 20 card discard) 2. I have quillspike and glen elendra archmage in play, my opp. has wingbrisk raptor in play. he attacks and I say I'm going to block with Archmage, then he lays down niveous wisps. I counter with archmage and remove the counter so i can block wingbrisk. Is this possible??

1. 1. You can't counter an ability, even if it is a Planeswalker's ability. You could try to use Swerve, which the effect states something like "Change the Target of Target Spell to a single Target". It means you can change who gets the 20 card discard. 2. Well, if you counter with Archmage, then it'll be sacrificed, so you can't block with it, if it is the Declare Blockers step.
