What is the best Dungeons and dragons / Palladium Fantasy Role playing game that you can get? Not PC games!?
I really love playing Palladium fantasy role playing game at the kitchen table with my friends. What role playing game system have you found to be the best to play? Why do you and your group of friends like it so much? Can beginners pick it up easily? What books for that system do you have to have at minimum to play? Thank you for your suggestions! Please no PC based / electronic games, Kitchen table role playing games only. Thanks.

- I'm loyal to D&D, because I consider it (3rd edition particularly) very versatile. It really is whatever game I want it to become. For D&D, you need to have the core trio of books, no matter what version, everything else is optional.
- Hey 1st tell me your acc photo is what..........
- I have found it more and more difficult as the years go by to get people together for table-top role-play. Good to hear some people are still at it! I'm a big fan of ADnD too, and still use my old 2nd edition materials for classic fantasy gaming. I've tried many other game systems but always seem to go back to the 'original'. Having said that, I am now using the RISUS system for quick one-off games or short campaigns. Its exceptionally easy to use with only 6 pages of basic rules that are obtainable free off the internet. If you want a basic set of rules that emphasize story and fun over game mechanics, this is the one I'd get. There are additional materials available as well, plus tons of open source adventures, even whole worlds. Google "RISUS" and you'll find a bunch of sites. I'd start with S. John Ross (the author of the RISUS) own web site and go from there: http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/risus.htm . Good luck and have fun!
