- i don't believe in reincarnation, as the bible doesn't speak of it. on the contrary, the soul dies, when the body dies.
- No where in the Bible does it say we are going to get another shot at life as a human being, The bible says it is appointed to man once to die, and after that the judgement. So we had better get it right the first time!!
- Love the question. Seems our souls couldn't possibly learn it all in one lifetime. I think there is reincarnation for anyone who has more to learn by coming back for another round. I also think that some don't come back for a long time, because they learn from watching what happens in the world, on account of what they did when they were here the last time. (That is why I think we can talk to those close to us who passed before us.) And I suppose that some people don't ever come back, because the reverberations of what they did in their life continues on forever. (For good or ill.)
- From a bible hugger's perspective, Jesus told his followers to be perfect and G-dlike (Matthew 5:48). How many perfect people do you know? Hey, heaven would be a ghetto of hypocrites, bigots and ding-dongs if all the people who think they're going to heaven actually went there. It's sheer ignorance for a spiritual person to reject reincarnation on the basis of what close-minded traditionalists say. It actually IS in the bible, many times, and what's more, it's a part of the whole Jesus history... the real history, not the edited and abridged edition of history created by the power-hungry early church leaders. Jesus was an Essene rabbi. John the Baptist was a a devout Essene: the whole idea of baptism was symbolic of death, burial and rebirth; RESURRECTION is the church's badly distorted version of REINCARNATION. The oft-quoted "it is appointed" that man die once and "face judgment" is another distortion. The bible also makes reference to "and this is the second death" -- and Paul claims he dies "everyday". The bible contradicts itself everywhere, and the "die once" quote is no exception. But technically, in reality, "you" will die only "once" and then face judgment (your karma, the lessons you need to learn in your next life) — however, your SOUL will be reborn in another body, which will also die, and so on and on until we get it right and learn all we need to know.
